This week will be A/B/A/B/Trip

From here on out, our schedule will change often because of testing and activities - please keep checking

Remember: Any missing work must be in before 5/24 in order to potentially earn partial credit

7th Grade:

We will continue talking about physics. We will still need to cover items you will need for future years in science - so even though you are done with your MSL -we are not done with class.

8th Grade: 

We will still need to cover items you will need for HS science - so even though you are done with your EOG -we are not done with class.  This includes scientific method.  We will be designing and performing our own labs about bubble-gum. Bubble-gum materials are required by Wed!  Student groups were in charge of distributing responsibilities for materials.  Be sure you keep up you part - Remember - if there is anything you need help with you need to let me know BEFORE Wed!

1.  Bubble lab rough drafts - Due by end of class Monday - if you don't complete the required items, you will not join us for the lab

*****************old news****************************************************** My web page will be updated weekly with class information, useful documents, notes and links. Students will receive all of this information in class, but this is a place for everyone to keep track of our science progress. We also will have vocabulary quizzes most weeks. Middle school science is like learning a foreign language. If you don't learn the vocabulary, it will be very hard to understand what is going on in class. It will also be VERY important in helping us prepare for the 8th grade EOG!

Supplies needed for my class: I strongly suggest a three ring binder to be used for Science and Social Studies with notebook paper, two spiral notebooks kept inside (one for Sci and one for SS) and two pocket folders. It will be easier to grab one binder each day so that you don't arrive to class with the wrong materials for your A or B day.

Our 8th grade textbook is online; [ http://my.hrw.com/ ] (user: ecastor7 password: r4x6p ) 7th grade (user: ecastor13 password x5t5p) Students will need to access the textbook here or they will have to check one out from the school library.

If you check out the documents section of this web page, you will find lots of useful information, including some class notes, vocabulary lists and project or any lengthy homework directions. If you subscribe by clicking the little icon at the bottom of this page, you can get an e-mail notification when any changes are made.

Homework: *Homework will be assigned at the beginning of each week and will be posted on the board to be copied into your agendas. You can also find them here on my webpage.  When the book is needed you will have sufficient time to check a copy of our textbook out from the school library, use the public library Internet or the Internet at your home. 

**Any time you have specific concerns about an assignment be sure to discuss them with me BEFORE the day the assignment is due! 

**If you send items electronically - it is not considered handed in until you get a confirmation email from me!!  It must be sent in before 9am on the due date.

Study guides, classwork or other multiple choice activities that are graded together in class will be graded late with a max of 65, if turned in after the class has gone over them***

 *2nd semester: late work will be accepted for a reduced grade but will only be graded as I have time. They will continue to lose credit the longer they are late. From the time it is late to the next school day - it drops one grade level.  After one day late, there is no guarantee that the late work will be graded and recorded - so make sure you turn work in on time! If it is graded, it will lose one grade level per 4 school days late

Missed work:   Items that were due the day you were absent are due the day you return.  Items assigned the day you were absent are due within three SCHOOL days from the day you return.  *You are responsible for getting any missed work from me the day you return. This must be done after class or during Venture. Also, don't forget to check the board for assignments and write them in your agenda.  Also check in "Class Documents" for and "missed" files - they will have the dates of missed work and what needs to be completed

There are about 170 students who use my classroom - so we are always in need of the following items.  If you are ever able to send any in, they are greatly appreciated!

*Disinfecting Wipes - any brand

*Facial Tissues 

*Small and large ziplock bags

*Hand sanitizer

We also will need the following for some labs:

*Plastic Wrap

*Aluminum Foil
