Parent's Rights to Restrict Access of Student Information |
Federal law allows school systems to classify some student information as "directory information" which can be publicly released without the permission of parents. Cabarrus County Schools identifies the following information as directory information: student's name, address, telephone, birth date and place, grade level, email address, extracurricular activities, awards received, height and weight of members of athletic teams, and pictures and videos taken at school. (Note: the school does not normally release this information unless it is in the best interest of the student, for the recognition this information may provide.)
It is policy not to release any information to businesses for commercial purposes, or to individuals without good reason. Therefore, most parents do not restrict the release of directory information. If you object to the release of directory information, please notify
HiRMS Principal James Carroll in writing.
