National School Counselor Week |
|
|
|
|
February 1st - 5th was National School Counselor Week
and the theme was "Celebrate School Counseling"
Our Royal Oaks School Counselor is Martha Joseph and she has been a counselor for 9 years, and before that was a 5th grade teacher for 12 years which makes a total of 19 years as an educator. Ms. Joseph obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in School Counseling at UNC-Charlotte. She is a State Licensed School Counselor, National Board Certified Teacher, a National Certified Counselor, and now a board eligible candidate for Licensed Professional Counselor. She is also participating in an 18 month program to become specialized in Reality Therapy. Ms. Joseph takes classes and participates in professional development in order to continue to learn and be the best counselor for students at Royal Oaks. Ms. Joseph works with students, parents, and staff to help students to be successful academically, personally, socially, and in life. Ms. Joseph's favorite thing to do is Read, Read, Read!

Teddy Bears for Kids in Crisis Underway!
(A Service Learning Project for Royal Oaks Students)
During the month of February, Donate Any Gently Used or New Stuffed Animals for Kids in Crisis!
The classroom that collects the most stuffed animals will earn a pizza party.
During the first week of collection, about 150 stuffed animals were collected. Mrs. Gaspari's 4th grade class is currently in first place having collected the most so far.
