Cabarrus County Board Policy states students enrolled in grades 9-12 who have more than eight (8) absences (excused and/or unexcused) in a course during each semester is considered excessive and students will not receive credit for the course.
Students who have more than eight absences and are maintaining a passing grade (70% or above) in the course have the right to an attendance appeal and recovery.
The process requires students to make up hours for any absences over 8-including excused, unexcused, or out of school suspensions.
Absences over 8 days in each class
will require 45 minutes of recovery time for each period; students may complete recovery time for a maximum of 15 hours.
Teachers are NOW offering recovery time to students who have more than 8 absences in their classes. This recovery time can be completed with the individual teacher and the teacher will report the make-up time to the appropriate administrator. Beginning December 14, 2009, students will be able to stay in the cafeteria from 2:30-4:30 in order to make-up time also.
Students received attendance profiles Monday, December 7th in homeroom. Please look over this report with your child and if you have any questions, please contact his/her administrator or counselor:

The Northwest Cabarrus High School graduating classes of 1970 through 1979 recently held a "Decade Class Reunion". The 70's graduates chose to donate all proceeds from the reunion to the NCHS electronic sign campaign. NCHS is purchasing an electronic sign to put at the corner of Trinity Church Road and Northwest Cabarrus Drive to assist the school in notifying the public of school related activities. A check of $2750 was presented to Lynn Rhymer, principal of NCHS and Randy Basinger, project coordinator on November 30, 2009.
NCHS wishes to thank the 70's graduates of NCHS for their generous contribution to the sign campaign. |

Governor Beverly Perdue visited Northwest September 14. She greeted students, joined in on a Freshman English class using the smart board, spoke to a group of student leaders and visited our new i-lab! She was extremely impressed with our students, staff and technology. She congratulated us on being named a "School of Distinction", and complimented Northwest for leading the way with 21st Century Technology! We are extremely honored and proud of her visit today and want to thank everyone that made it possible. Above are some great pictures of the Governor's visit!
