JMRHS Hosts Medal of Honor Recipient

Students from Cabarrus County Schools Air Force JROTC units at Central Cabarrus, Mount Pleasant, Northwest Cabarrus and Jay M. Robinson High Schools had the opportunity to hear Medal of Honor Recipient Col. (Ret.) Joe Marm speak at a special assembly on Friday, May 25th at Jay M. Robinson High School.

Col. Marm received the Medal of Honor for gallantry and bravery during a tour of duty in Vietnam. The story of his platoon's battle was chronicled in the book titled "We Were Soldiers Once… and Young" by Lt. General (Ret.) Harold Moore and war journalist Joseph Galloway and in a movie starring Mel Gibson titled "We Were Soldiers."

During his presentation, Col. Marm encouraged the cadets to work hard and listen to their parents and teachers. He told them that their futures were bright and that they could achieve any dream they have.
