CCS Students Win Theater Awards

CCS students and school theater programs won big at the Blumey Awards (the high school version of the Tony Awards) on Sunday, May 20 2012, at the Belk Theatre.

The Blumeys are presented by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center to honor and recognize excellence in high school musical theater. The program's mission is to highlight the importance of musical theater and arts education.

And the Blumeys went to…

Best Actor - Kyle Conroy, Little Shop of Horrors - Jay M. Robinson High School
Best Supporting Actor - Matt Verner, Little Shop of Horrors - Jay M. Robinson High School
Best Student Orchestra - Urinetown - Hickory Ridge High School

Kyle Conroy will compete at the Jimmy Awards, the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, which will be held on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre on June 25th.

Congratulations to our students, and to Kyle, as they say in the theater…
