Performance Learning Center to Host Open House for Prospective Students

On May 29th the Performance Learning Center (PLC) will host its 1st Annual Open House for prospective students and parents from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The Performance Learning Center is a Magnet High School specializing in an individualized mastery learning approach for each student, utilizing a blended learning methodology of online instruction and teacher guided input.  The PLC offers smaller class sizes and a flexible schedule where students are capable of earning more than the traditional eight credits per year.  The PLC opened in 2007 with 52 students and 9 graduates.  It has grown to 110 students and a potential 55 graduates in 2012 and will expand to 125 students for the 2012-2013.

The PLC serves a population of students who may not have been successful in a traditional classroom, felt out of place or lost in the crowd, have chronic health issues that affects attendance, are motivated to graduate high school, and are intellectually on grade level. The PLC is not a school meant for those who have major discipline issues.
