BOE Recognizes Students, Staff
The Cabarrus County Board of Education recognized students and staff at its March Business Meeting on Monday, March 8, 2010.
The Board presented students and staff from Harrisburg Elementary School and Jay M. Robinson High School with Impact through Education Awards.
The awards honor individuals who exemplify the qualities of initiative, hard work and respect for others. The awards are sponsored in partnership with Cabarrus County Schools, the Cabarrus Regional Chamber, Corning and Pizza Hut. Impact Award honorees were joined by family members and members of their school's administrative team as they received their awards.
Honorees at the March Board of Education meeting were:
Harrisburg Elementary School Hannah B. Tion G. Marie Sigler Charlene Vogel
Jay M. Robinson High School Hannah W. De'Chane W. Debra Cook Krista Fallon The Board also recognized Jay M. Robinson High School Principal Beverly Mack who received an Unsung Hero Award from North Carolina A & T University. The award recognizes individuals who contributed to the civil rights movement and the fight for justice in Greensboro and across the nation. The Unsung Hero Awards were presented during the 50th Anniversary celebration of the F.W. Woolworth store sit-in and civil rights movement in Greensboro.
Principal Mack also received the Guardian of Excellence Award from the Jay M. Robinson Multicultural Society. The award is given to individuals who exude exceptional qualities in professionalism, leadership, and organizational management while fostering diversity at Jay M. Robinson High School.
