Monday, March 9th, 2009

Mount Pleasant High School Athletic Trainer Steve Ashby, LAT, ATC, CSCS, has been selected as the High School Athletic Trainer of the Year. Ashby has been an athletic trainer with Cabarrus County Schools for seven years. He also serves as the district representative for the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association and is very involved in the state association.

"Congratulations to Steve for a job well done," said Scott Barringer, director of athletics and sports medicine for Cabarrus County Schools. "He has worked very hard over the years to improve the sports medicine program at Mount Pleasant High School and within the county and the state."

The Association also honored Joe Cutler, PA-C at Cabarrus Family Medicine as Sports Medicine Person of the Year. Cutler has served as team sports medicine provider for the athletic program at Northwest Cabarrus High School for about 15 years.

The North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association sponsors these awards. Both men were honored during the organization's 31st Annual Meeting, which was held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Concord earlier this month. March is National Athletic Training Month.
