Hannah Watson (center), a student at Harris Road Middle School, won first place in the Computer-Generated Slide Show category.
Gavin Rickard (left), also a student at Harris Road Middle School, won second place in the Poster Contest category.
Alli Love (right), a student at C.C. Griffin Middle School, won second place in the Public Speaking Contest category.
This is the first year for the Computer-Generated Slide Show category, and the first year since 2004 that a poster from the Cabarrus Soil Water Conservation District has placed in the Top 3 at the state competition.
According to Denis Testerman, resource conservation specialist with the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District, in 44 years of participation in the Conservation Public Speaking Contest, six contestants from Cabarrus County have placed first or second.
The theme for this year's competition was Wetlands are Wonderful.
Congratulations to Hannah, Gavin and Alli!
