Northwest Cabarrus Middle School Students Tee Off
Students at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School (NCMS) spent four weeks learning about the game of golf thanks to the PGA of America and its affiliates.
NCMS served as a pilot school to introduce golf at the middle school level in Cabarrus County. Students spent a four-week unit of study learning fundamentals of the game, including how to keep score, golf etiquette, golf swings, and golf vocabulary.
At the end of the unit, sixth-grade students went to The Lost Duffer to play miniature golf; seventh-grade students traveled to Rocky River Golf Course to use the driving range. On May 2nd, eighth-grade students were able to play nine holes of golf at the Rocky River course and enjoy lunch at the club house.
