Students Receive Art Honors

Cabarrus County Schools celebration of Youth Art Month continues.

Each year, the superintendent selects three student pieces, which become a part of his permanent art collection at the Education Center. These pieces hang in the Superintendent's office, conference rooms and other administrative areas throughout the building. Students receive a monetary prize for "selling" their work to the superintendent. The Cabarrus County Education Foundation generously sponsors these art awards.

Superintendent Barry Shepherd proudly announces his selections for the Superintendent's Choice Awards. Congratulations to the following students whose artwork has been selected as Superintendent's Choice for 2012:

Calib Malin - Bethel Elementary School
Amber Howell - Harold Winkler Middle School
Ben Osborne - Concord High School

Additionally, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has started a permanent art collection, which is on display at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. The Commissioners' Select Awards are presented to three students whose artwork will become a part of the Commissioners permanent collection.

Congratulations to the following students whose artwork has been selected as recipients of the Commissioners' Select Awards for 2012:

Jesse Tomberlin - Mount Pleasant Elementary School
Sabrina Bologna - Harold Winkler Middle School
Liam Neill - Jay M. Robinson High School
