WMS Students Attend Education Day

Eighth grade students from Winkler Middle School participated in the CIAA Middle School Education Day on February 29th.

The students heard from guest speakers from NASA and NASCAR about the importance of hard work, perseverance and goal setting. The overall emphasis of the speakers' comments was about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Students were encouraged to tap into the world of STEM to become future innovators, creators and 21st century learners.

They also had the opportunity to speak to representatives from CIAA colleges and universities, as well as interact with hands on and booths from both NASA and NASCAR, including the materials and tools astronauts use on space expeditions and robots created by students in NASA's FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Program.
