BOE Recognizes Students, Staff
The Cabarrus County Board of Education recognized students and staff at its February Business Meeting on Monday, February 13th.
The Board presented Impact Through Education Awards to students and staff at Cox Mill Elementary School and Jay M. Robinson High School.
The Impact Through Education Awards honor individuals who exemplify the qualities of initiative, hard work and respect for others. Impact Award honorees were joined by family members and members of their school's administrative team as they received their awards.
Impact Award honorees at the February Board of Education meeting were:

Students - Lydia Sorrell & Vishal Ruparelia Staff - Darren Hartsell & Lee Richardson
Superintendent Barry Shepherd and David Kopp, business development manager at Hilbish Ford, presented the Cabarrus County Schools Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month. Each month, Hilbish Ford honors a CCS teacher for his or her outstanding work in the classroom. Teachers are nominated by parents, students or coworkers. Hilbish presents the teacher with a trophy and a cash prize. The February winner, Patricia Chapin, teaches A. T. Allen Elementary School.
Mount Pleasant Air Force JROTC Lt. Col. Thomas Clark presented the Air Force JROTC Gold Medal of Valor Award to Cadet Christopher Allman, a Mount Pleasant High School senior and senior airman in the Air Force JROTC unit at the school. The Gold Medal of Valor is the highest medal awarded to JROTC cadets and is given for acts requiring risk to personal safety in order to save the life of another.
Superintendent Shepherd also presented Cabarrus County Board of Education members with certificates of achievement from the N.C. School Boards Association Academy for School Boardsmanship.
The Mount Pleasant High School Air Force JROTC unit presented the colors as the meeting was called to order. The Mount Pleasant cadets in attendance were:

The Mount Pleasant Air Force JROTC cadets are led by Lt. Col. Thomas Clark and CMSgt. Kevin McLaughlin.
