BOE Recognizes Students, Staff

Click to View SlideshowThe Cabarrus County Board of Education recognized students and staff at its September Business Meeting on Monday, September 19th.

The Board presented Impact Through Education Awards to students and staff at Bethel Elementary School and Harris Road Middle School.

The Impact Through Education Awards honor individuals who exemplify the qualities of initiative, hard work and respect for others. Impact Award honorees were joined by family members and members of their school's administrative team as they received their awards.

Impact Award honorees at the September Board of Education meeting were:

Bethel Elementary School

Students - Anna Mann & Brooke Widmar
Staff - Melissa Buchanan & Carrie Whitley

Harris Road Middle School

Students - Christa Hill & Ryan Tortorelli
Staff - Ann Moose & LaShawn Summers

The Board, along with Tim Vaughn, general manager at Hilbish Ford, also recognized the Hilbish Ford CCS Teacher of the Month for September. This month's honoree is Monica Duckett, a third grade teacher at Pitts School Road Elementary School.

A combined unit of JROTC Cadets from Mount Pleasant, Jay M. Robinson, Central Cabarrus and Northwest Cabarrus High Schools presented the colors as the meeting was called to order. The JROTC Cadets presenting the colors were:

Cadet First Lieutenant Kaitlin Culp - Mount Pleasant High School
Cadet Terrance Moser - Jay M. Robinson High School
Cadet First Lieutenant Ryan Ellis - Central Cabarrus High School
Cadet Second Lieutenant Christopher Finley - Northwest Cabarrus High School

The group leader was Lieutenant Colonel Nelson English, Central Cabarrus High School.

Choral students from Central Cabarrus High School’s Advanced Fall Choir performed the National Anthem. Under the direction of Joel King, the choir members in attendance were Micah White, James Satterwhite, Sam Lynch, Joshua E. White, Emily Trongo, Victoria Harness, Shannon Young, Sarah Yow, Maddie Mullis, Skylar Beaver and Casey Little.
