Look for our monthly CBT's (Community Based Training Trips) on the Leader's home page.
In Science we have finished working on Biomes and now are studying landforms. We will incorporate this knowledge with Mrs. Dain's NC History social studies lesson by making a hands on topical map of NC. We will use a salt and flour mixture to form the landforms and then label the various landforms in NC.Also check out your child's power point on Landforms. The objective of this power point was to teach keyboard usage, how to design, format and spruce up a power point and how to add picures from the Internet and then size them. I also graded on the ability to copy text to computer and the English mechanics we have studied thus far
In ELA. Your child did not write this PowerPoint. They will be writing their own soon on the water cycle. In English Language Arts (ELA) We have been working on formatting of letters (writing and typing), basic writing mechanics, editing marks and addressing envelopes. Group Blue is now starting a long unit on writing paragraphs and then multi-paragraphs on expository and persuasive writing. Group Red is working on the simple paragraph formula FNTF (first, next, then, finally) and writing "How to" paragraphs.
In accordance with school policy, student absences allow for 3 school days to make up missed work. It is your child's responsibility to ask for their work. I do not accept late work so please help your child remember to be responsible.
Mrs. Dain and I use the agenda's daily as communication to and from home. Please sign your child's agenda nightly (Mon. - Thurs.). They will be held accountable for this and will receive disciplinary notices if they do not get their agendas signed. If you need additional communication with us please do it via email. I do not
check my voice mail on the school phone on a daily basis so it is not a good way to leave me messages.
