Superintendent's Message - May-June 2013

Dr. Barry Shepherd, Superintendent Cabarrus County Schools

Greetings!

Thank you for a fantastic school year! I cannot believe that we only have a couple of weeks left before the last bell rings.

I’m sure our seniors are counting down to their big day – graduation. And underclassmen are looking forward to summer vacation.

I offer my congratulations to the Class of 2013. You have successfully completed your elementary, middle and high school years. I hope you have fond memories of your time in Cabarrus County Schools, and I wish only the best for you as you begin your new journey – whether it takes you to a college campus, into the workforce, or leads you to answer a call to serve.

As you leave us, heed the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, who wrote, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Sage advice…no matter where your journey leads, remember to leave a trail.

To our returning students, enjoy your summer. Be safe and remember to keep your skills sharp.

To our parents, thank you for all that you’ve done this year to support our schools and our children. Your involvement is such an integral part of our students’ success. We could not have made it through another year without you.

To our wonderful CCS teachers, administrators and support staff, thank you for your continued commitment and dedication to our students. Know that you are appreciated.

As we look ahead to the summer months, my staff and I will be busy planning for the new school year – preparing our buildings and grounds, getting our classrooms ready, and learning new and innovative ways to engage our students in a variety of professional development opportunities.

Once again, this year, all CCS buildings and offices will operate on a summer schedule, so all CCS facilities will be open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will begin our summer schedule the week of June 10th.

Once again, I say thank you for a wonderful school year. Be safe this summer. We’ll see you in August.

Sincerely,
Dr. Barry Shepherd- Superintendent, Cabarrus County Schools
