If you wish to try out for men's soccer at Robinson next year be aware of the following information:

All required forms are available on the School Web Page click on Athletics, in the main office and in the guidance office during summer hours at Robinson High School.

The entire Athletic packet must be completed in order to try out!



 

Physicals:  Everyone needs a current physical on file at Robinson before final tryouts. Completed forms can be placed in Coach Hoke's Box during summer school hours. You will not be eligible for the team if your physical is not on file. Forms are available over the summer in the Main Office.If your physical has not been filed with the school by The start of tryouts then bring a copy to the first day of tryouts.

Tryouts:

Final Tryouts:  Mon Jul 30  - Wed. Aug 1. Conditioning tests from 7:30-9:00 AM Mon & Tue. Small sided games 4:00 - 6:00 PM each day. Attendance at all sessions is required. Fitness tests will include the Coopers Test (7 ¼ laps in 12 Min.) and a series of 10 110 yd. Sprints with a 1:3 Work/Rest ratio. BE IN SHAPE!

Voluntary Summer Workouts June 25 - July 25 :We will play small sided games in the Gym on Monday andWednesday from 5 - 6:30 PM . Rising freshmen are welcome!

There is a strength and conditioning page on Coach Hoke's Web Site. Visit the Web Site to get a Summer Workout program that you can do on your own.

Summer Play: I encourage returning players to use this as an opportunity to stay in touch and work with each other during the off-season.  The Charlotte Sports Center (charlottesportscenter.com) and Strikers Soccer Center in Huntersville (strikerssoccer.com) have summer leagues starting in early July.

Conditioning Requirements

  The following expectations were developed by the coaches and rising senior leadership.  

Coopers Test  12 minute run around the track:

Varsity/JV Eligibility*

  • 7.25 laps completed to be eligible to Start as a Varsity player
  • 6.5 laps completed to be eligible for the Varsity team
  • 5.5 laps completed to be eligible for JV

110 Yard Sprints complete 10 sets. 110 yards in 18 seconds, Jog back to the start in 30 seconds, Rest for 30 seconds. Each segment must be completed in the time allotted.

Varsity/JV Eligibility*

  • Complete all sprints in required time to be eligible to Start as a Varsity Player
  • Miss no More than 2 and must attempt 9 of 10 to be eligible for the Varsity Team
  • Miss no more than 4 and must attempt 8 of 10 to be eligible for JV

* Eligible means that the athletes conditioning is acceptable. To be selected for the team the Skill and Knowledge of the game must be demonstrated to the coaches.
