Student Services Management Team

Team Role

Team is responsible for developing interventions addressing targeted student problem area(s).   Targeted areas may include academics, behaviors, and speech/ language.

Team composition and meeting dates are determined at individual school site(s).

Level I -

Define the Problem-

A teacher, staff member, and/or parent have concerns about a student. and his/her school performance.  Prioritize concerns according to significance of impact and use available data to:

1) Define academic and/or behavioral problem in concrete, observable, and measurable terms.

2) Hypothesize an explanation for the problem based on the definition.  Consider modifiable factors, e.g., Mary is not on task in math because she does not know her basic math facts. There are five types of hypotheses:  c urricular ,  Instructional, environment, stu dent skill, and s tudent process.

Develop an Intervention Plan -

Develop a specific plan of action to correct identified problem area.  Avoid using the same practices and materials previously used with student.  The plan developed must have specificity and clearly defined goals.

Who is responsible for the plan?

What specifically is the new material, methodology?

Where will the plan be implemented, e.g., classroom, different setting?

When will the plan be implemented, e.g., time of day, how long?

Level II -

Review Progress of Intervention Plan

Ongoing assessment of data is necessary.

Did the student meet and/or exceed the goals of the plan?

Was the student successful?

When should the next check point be?

Should the interventions be modified?

Level III -

Evaluate the Progress Made with the Intervention Plan-

Team reviews success of plan and additional interventions, if needed, to meet targeted level(s).

Did the student meet and/or exceed the goals of the plan?

Was the student successful?

Should there be another check point?

Should the interventions be modified?

Does the intervention plan support a referral to ECAT?
