Attention Allegiance Team & Parents: |
 |
 |
 |
 |
On behalf of the Allegiance team, we invite you to our eighth-grade, year-ending Awards Ceremony and Reception on Friday, June 7, at 9:30 A.M. in the Harris Road gymnasium. This event will serve to recognize many eighth-graders for a variety of individual accomplishments this year. Additionally, the event will be followed by a reception in the school cafeteria where food and beverages will be served. We think this will be a fun, rewarding way for the students to conclude their middle-school years, and we hope you are able to join them. Here are the particulars:
· On Friday, students received a sealed invitation that will be your ticket into the event. This ticket will allow you to avoid the computerized sign-in process now in place for all visitors. As you enter the building, all you will have to do is show your ticket, and your student’s name will be crossed off on our class rosters. (Note: If parents are arriving from different locations, the parent without the invitation will need to sign in at the office with a picture ID.)
· Please arrive at school and be positioned in the gym NO LATER THAN 9:30. The students will be parading into the gym from their respective team areas at that time.
· You may choose to sign out your child at any point after the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony. A sign-out sheet will be available in the cafeteria area. Otherwise, students will be dismissed as walkers or riders at 12:30 per the bell schedule.
· We ask that students dress up for this ceremony. This does not mean formal wear! We want to avoid “dressing down,” such as ragged jeans and t-shirts. Nice pants and a collared shirt for the boys (think: “business casual”), and either a casual dress or nice pants and blouse for the girls. As always, dress code applies. We want them to take pride in their accomplishments and present themselves accordingly.
· Parents of students who will be specifically recognized at the ceremony will be notified in a separate email.
· We also hope some parents will volunteer specific food or beverage items for the reception. That information, with a list of our needs, will also be sent out in a separate email.
Finally, the ceremony and reception will be the entire agenda for June 7. Therefore, some students – especially those who may not think they are receiving awards – may prefer to stay home and begin summer vacation a few hours early. We want everyone to come to school that day! This will be a special occasion that will provide students with an opportunity to mingle one last time and say good-bye to their classmates and teachers in a satisfying way that brings three years of their lives to a conclusion.
Sincerely,
The Allegiance Teachers
