Why is it important to stay on track and get promoted?

 Graduate on time
 To keep your permit/license, you have to pass your classes
 To play sports you need to pass your classes
 The more classes you pass each year, the more electives you have later in high school
 To keep a good Grade Point Average (GPA)
 

HOW TO INCREASE ACADEMIC SUCCESS?

1. Make sure you complete all homework each night

2. Communication is the key with your teachers. Ask questions when you do not understand something.

3. Your friends are instrumental in your life during high school. Please surround yourself with positive friends.

Why is your school transcript and a good GPA important?

Transcripts and GPA's are used by colleges, scholarship committees, and employers to get a picture of the type of student you are.
 An impression is formed by looking at your grades, the types of classes you took and your attendance.
A good GPA increases your chances of getting accepted into college.

Zero's really pull down your GPA. It is very important to turn in ALL assignments.


Promotion requirements from 9th to 10th Grade:

You must pass 6 out of 8 classes

REMEMBER: This is an excellent time to explore your college & occupational interests. As you discover your interests academically and occupationally, set goals so that you can make your goals a reality your senior year.


A few quick tips about High School:

  • Your GPA is very important. It begins in 9th grade. Every class you take factors into your GPA. Remember to turn in all assignments.
  • Attendance is very important in high school. You cannot miss more than 8 days in a class per semester to receive credit for the class.
  • You will receive a credit when you pass a class by earning a 70% or better as well as having good attendance.
  • Students need 27 credits to graduate.
  • Scheduling means that you will have 4 classes the first semester and 4 classes the 2nd semester.
