In order to play sports in college, you must be considered "eligible" through NCAA. NCAA will look at the courses you have taken and will determine if you have the GPA and SAT/ACT test scores they feel are appropriate for you to be able to play college sports.

During your junior year at NCHS begin this process:

Register at the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Register to take the SAT and/or ACT and use the eligibility code 9999 as a score recipient.
Check your courses against NCHS list of approved courses and continue to work hard in all courses.
Fill out a transcript request at the end of your junior year and end of senior year. Have your transcript sent to: NCAA Eligibility Center Certification Processing, P.O. Box 7136 Indianapolis, IN 46207
Begin the Amateurism Questionnaire at the end of your junior year of high school and complete during your senior year.
Sign the final authorization signature online on or after April 1, if you expect to enroll in college in the fall semester.
Have an official transcript with proof of graduation sent to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
You must be an offical NCHS graduate in order for NCAA to complete the final certification.

Important information to know:

  • NCAA only uses the math and critical reading scores of the SAT, not the writing section.
  • NCAA only uses a sum of the ACT's four sections: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science
  • All SAT & ACT scores must be reported directly to the NCAA Eligibility Center by the testing agency. Test scores that appear on transcripts will not be used. Remember to use the Eligibility Center code 9999 to make sure the score is reported directly to the Eligibility Center.
