Congratulations to the staff and students! Beverly Hills has received NC DPI RECOGNITION - Exemplar School, for our implementation of PBIS!
During the 08-9 school year, our school began implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). PBIS focuses on creating and sustaining school-wide, classroom, and individual systems of support that improve the educational environment for all children by explicitly teaching behavioral expectations and then recognizing the positive behaviors shown by students.
Our three core values are being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. Students are explicitly taught what it looks like to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe everywhere in our school.
- Students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times. Grade levels create specific behavior plans to help students monitor their own behavior with expectations and consequences appropriate to that level. Teachers will inform parents and students of the specific details.
- Our school uses specific terminology to helps students develop a sense of responsibility for their choices and their actions around our three core values of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
- Our goal is 100 % "Time for Learning"! On average, each time a student is referred to the office for misbehavior, 40 minutes of instructional time is lost. That can quickly add up! We track our office referral data to monitor how much "Time for Learning" we have each month. January - 92%, February - 92% and March - 89%!
As you can see from our 3 Year Trend data chart below, we are seeing an overall trend of decreasing office referrals! Way to go BHE!!
